We bought our motor home last year and I have to say we make very good use of her, until the lockdown in March we would hop in and discover another area of Spain nearly every weekend. As most motorhomers will know it is quite normal to name your van and ours is called Daisy. Unfortunately with the lockdown still in place she is parked up waiting for us to take her on her next adventure.
As we mostly go for weekends we have not managed to venture too far from Pinoso, we like to keep the travel time to around 2 hours maximum. However, this country has so much to offer that a short trip is often enough. She is always packed up and ready to go so as soon as we get the sniff of a couple of days off we’re ready for action.
We have been to many of the coastal towns in both Alicante and Murcia regions from Azohia, a small fishing village to the busy resorts of Benidorm and Calpe. Each have their own merits but the sleepy villages are my personal favourites.
Mostly we stay on campsites and I have to say they must be some of the cleanest and friendliest places in the world. The prices vary from around 8€ per night up to 30€ per night depending on location and facilities. We do however see a lot of “wild campers” enjoying their own self sufficient life. I think you could call it a sort of club membership when you own a motor home, as you drive along other vehicle users wave or toot and they are more than happy to share experiences or new places to visit.
We were planning a 2 week holiday in Daisy so that we could venture further afield and see some of the stunning areas that Spain has to offer. Unfortunately that is on hold for the moment but as soon as we get the go ahead from the government we will dust off Daisy’s wheels and hit the road.
If you have a motorhome why not come to Pinoso for a visit, we have a lovely campsite called Camping Tranquillo just outside of the town, from here you can enjoy the peaceful setting, taste the local Spanish wines and sample some of the best Tapas around.
